There’s a quiet awe in Amanda Hinkelmann’s Beyond Our Place—a sense that something sacred lies just over the horizon. In this luminous abstracted landscape, Amanda uses sweeping strokes of blush, ivory, and earthy golds to guide the viewer toward a distant light, reflected softly in the surface of a still body of water. The trees, tall and watchful, frame the journey, standing as witnesses to the land’s timeless presence. Layers of mixed media texture build a tactile depth that mimics the richness of Country—inviting not just sight, but sensation. As a Wiradjuri artist, Amanda’s work always holds deep reverence for place, story, and lineage. Here, she encourages us to look past what we know and wonder what more the land might hold.
