Maree grew up in a happy farming family near Burcher in red dirt remote NSW. Her love of home and the Australian outback is reflected in her abstract landscapes where she enjoys uninhibited expression and loose brush strokes. Her works are fun and full of surprises and are as unpredictable as the landscape itself. Maree’s energy comes from a feeling rather than realism.
Often using mixed media – acrylics, charcoal, pastels and collage to create texture and depth and scratching the surface with her palette knife creating interest. Larger works have her mother’s sheet music collage.
Maree is constantly striving to create bright bold colour and she does enjoy the space in a large canvas. Inspired by the early works of Ken Done and by the gorgeous earthy art of Pro Hart. Maree’s works are found in private collections as well as galleries in Australia and are sure to lift the mood in any space.
