Bold, bright, and bursting with personality, the Firetrail Spirals are for those who live colourfully and unapologetically. Handwoven by Gomeroi artist Debbie Wood, these earrings pay homage to the vibrant landscapes of Country — the rich reds and oranges found in clay soils, burning sunsets, and the fire trails that ribbon across the land after cultural burning. This colour is not just eye-catching; it holds warmth, energy and a spark of creative confidence.
Debbie’s weaving practice is deeply grounded in her cultural inheritance. Weaving has long been part of Gomeroi storytelling, knowledge-sharing, and connection between women. In these earrings, every spiral is a continuation of that lineage. Each coil is shaped carefully by hand, requiring patience, precision, and an intuitive feel for the raffia. You can see the rhythm of her hands in every loop, giving these earrings a truly soulful, tactile beauty.
The raffia used here is dyed in the most electric orange — bold enough to turn heads, yet soft enough to wear with absolutely anything. The texture is organic and slightly rustic, adding depth and dimension to the circular form. Despite their statement size, they are incredibly lightweight, making them perfect for all-day wear without any discomfort.
The spiral shape symbolises movement, journey, growth and return — a reminder that we circle back, again and again, to the things that shape and sustain us. Wearing them feels like carrying a little piece of power and story with you.
Dress them up with a black dress, pair them with denim, or let them pop against neutrals — the Firetrail Spirals bring energy to every outfit. They’re also the kind of piece that starts conversations. People will ask about them, and when they do, you get to share the story of Debbie, her culture, and the beauty of traditionally-inspired weaving.
Each pair is handmade and completely unique. No two spirals twist in exactly the same way, making these earrings a genuine one-of-a-kind piece of wearable Indigenous art.
Keep dry and store in a protected place. Avoid bending the raffia and reshape gently with your fingertips if needed.
