If you have ever heard the words “I’m bored” five minutes into the school holidays, this one is for you.

Created by yellowhouseart in Wagga Wagga, NSW, Little Makers Club offers kids’ craft boxes filled with everything children need to enjoy a colourful, creative and delightfully messy activity at home.

Each box is based on one of the projects we love creating with children in our yellowhouseart studio. We pack the materials, write the instructions and create a step-by-step video tutorial so your Little Maker can open the box and get started.

No planning an activity, searching the house for supplies or buying large packets of things you may never use again. We have done that part for you.

Why I Created the Little Makers Club

I created the Little Makers Club because I wanted more children to experience the joy and confidence that come from making something with their own hands.

Not every child can come to one of our Wagga Wagga art classes or school holiday workshops. Some families live too far away, some children are more comfortable creating at home, and sometimes parents simply need a fun activity that is ready to go when the creative mood—or the “I’m bored”—strikes.

I also wanted these boxes to create opportunities for children to spend time with their mums, dads, grandparents, carers and siblings.

Because some of the best conversations happen when everyone’s hands are busy painting, cutting, gluing and deciding exactly where that last bit of glitter should go.

Little Makers Club boxes can be enjoyed independently, but they are also a lovely invitation to sit down, make something together and create a few family memories along the way.

Creative Activity Boxes for Kids

Our creative activity boxes for kids are designed to provide enough guidance to help children get started while still leaving plenty of room for their own ideas.

We do not want every finished project to look exactly like the example. In fact, we hope it doesn’t.

Children can choose their favourite colours, change the design, add their own details and take the activity in a completely unexpected direction. That freedom is where so much of the magic happens.

What’s Included in a Little Makers Club Craft Box?

Each Little Makers Club box is $40 and includes the materials needed to complete the featured project.

Depending on the activity, children may discover paints, paintbrushes, glitter, beads, charms, clay, stickers, embellishments and all sorts of colourful little surprises inside.

Every box also includes:

• Easy-to-follow written instructions

• A link to a step-by-step video tutorial with me, Maggie

• A thoughtfully selected collection of creative materials

• Plenty of opportunities to personalise the project

• A finished creation children can use, display or proudly show everyone they know

Some projects may require a basic household item or help from a grown-up. For example, our Cream Glue Kawaii Jewellery Box does not include a hot glue gun, so adult assistance may be needed if one is used.

Magical Fairy Gardens

Children can build and decorate their own tiny magical world filled with colour, sparkle and imagination.

There are no rules about who—or what—might live in their garden. Fairies, dinosaurs, tiny animals and completely invented creatures are all welcome.

Under the Sea Adventures

Children can dive into an underwater world and design a colourful ocean scene filled with sea creatures, treasure and imaginative details.

It is a wonderful project for children who love storytelling, building and creating their own miniature worlds.

Scrapbooking

Our scrapbooking box gives children a fun and colourful way to tell their own stories using photos, paper, stickers, words and embellishments.

It is part artwork, part memory keeping and completely personal.

Polymer Clay Lanterns

Children can sculpt, shape and decorate their own glowing lantern using polymer clay.

This hands-on project encourages children to experiment with colour, pattern and three-dimensional design—and leaves them with something very special to display.

Cream Glue Kawaii Jewellery Boxes

Cute, colourful and gloriously over the top.

Children can paint and decorate their own wooden jewellery box using cream glue, charms, rhinestones, glitter, clay fruit, confetti and plenty of bling.

The Benefits of Creativity for Children

Creative activities are fun, but they also help children develop important skills that reach far beyond the art table.

Creativity Builds Confidence

When children make something themselves, they experience a wonderful sense of achievement.

They can look at the finished project and say, “I made that.”

Every colour they choose and every idea they try gives them ownership of their work and helps build confidence in their own abilities.

Art Encourages Problem-Solving

Creative projects involve lots of little decisions.

Which colour should I use? How can I make these pieces fit together? What could I try if my first idea does not work?

Children learn to experiment, adjust their plans and discover that there is often more than one way to solve a problem.

Painting, cutting, threading, rolling clay, placing small decorations and squeezing glue all help develop fine motor skills, coordination and hand strength.

A hands-on, screen-free activity gives them an opportunity to focus on one thing, become absorbed in the process and enjoy a quieter kind of play.

More Than Just a Kids’ Activity Box

I did not want to create a box that entertained children for ten minutes and was then forgotten. I wanted every Little Makers Club box to feel like a complete creative experience.

It begins with the excitement of opening the box and discovering all the little packets inside.

Then comes the choosing, painting, sculpting, decorating, changing of minds and adding of just one more sparkly thing.

At the end, children have something that belongs completely to them—something they imagined, designed and made.

For families, these boxes make creative time easier. You do not need to plan an activity, hunt for supplies or know how to teach the project. You can follow the written instructions, watch the video with Maggie and enjoy creating together.
