About the artist

Bridgette Mannes is a contemporary Australian artist based in the Riverina region of New South Wales. Working primarily in mixed media, Bridgette creates richly textured artworks inspired by waterways, aerial landscapes, native flora and the patterns found throughout the natural environment.

Her process is intuitive and highly layered. Paint, texture, mark-making and organic forms are brought together to create surfaces that invite closer exploration. From a distance, her compositions often resemble sweeping aerial views of rivers and landforms; up close, intricate details reveal the time and care embedded within each piece.

Water is a recurring source of inspiration in Bridgette’s work. Rivers bend and flow through the landscape, creating natural pathways, boundaries and gathering places. By looking at these environments from an elevated perspective, Bridgette transforms recognisable Australian landscapes into contemporary abstract compositions filled with movement and rhythm.

Her botanical works explore the quieter beauty of Australia’s native flora. Textured surfaces, circular forms and earthy yet contemporary palettes capture both the softness and resilience of the natural world.

Memory and connection to place sit at the centre of Bridgette’s practice. Her artworks are not intended to be exact maps or botanical studies. Instead, they express the feeling of remembering a river, looking across the land or returning to a place that has remained important over time.

Bridgette’s work has been presented through yellowhouseart and at the Brisbane Affordable Art Fair, introducing collectors to her distinctive combination of aerial perspective, abstraction and layered texture.

Her paintings bring a sense of calm, movement and connection into a space, offering a contemporary celebration of the Australian landscape and the details within it.
