About the artist
Donna Brown is a self-taught Australian artist based on a farming property near Goolgowi in the Riverina region of New South Wales. Working under the name Molbrook Art, Donna creates beautifully observed paintings that celebrate horses, farm animals, wildlife and the characters of rural life.
Having lived on the land and shown horses for much of her life, Donna has an instinctive understanding of the animals she paints. She notices their stance, movement, expression and individual personalities, bringing each subject to life with warmth and careful attention to detail.
Donna’s paintings are realistic while retaining a softness and approachability that makes them feel full of character. Horses, cattle, sheep, working dogs and native animals are presented not simply as subjects, but as familiar personalities with their own stories to tell.
Her experience with animals allows her to capture the subtle details that create a genuine emotional connection between the artwork and the viewer.
The name Molbrook comes from Donna’s former horse stud prefix, reflecting the close connection between her artistic practice, her lifelong love of horses and her experience of country living.
Donna’s art is a celebration of the animals and landscapes that form the heart of Australian farming life. Her work has connected strongly with collectors who appreciate authentic rural stories and paintings that bring a sense of personality, warmth and country character into their homes.
For Donna, painting is about giving life to her subjects and sharing the beauty she sees in the animals around her.
