About the artist
Lindy Farley is an Australian contemporary artist based in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales. Known for her fearless use of colour, energetic mark-making and richly layered surfaces, Lindy creates expressive artworks that are joyful, bold and immediately recognisable.
Working across acrylic paint, ink, pastel and mixed media, Lindy builds her paintings intuitively. Layers of colour, pattern, line and texture are added freely, allowing each composition to develop its own rhythm and personality. Her work is influenced by the bright, electric colours of the 1980s, resulting in paintings that feel playful, optimistic and full of movement.
The Australian landscape is a constant source of inspiration for Lindy. Rather than painting a literal view, she responds to the colour, shapes, memories and atmosphere of the places she experiences. Life in regional New South Wales, time spent on the farm and travels throughout Australia and Europe have all found their way into her work. Hills, gardens, coastlines, flowers and familiar country scenes are reimagined through Lindy’s vibrant visual language.
Lindy is also an important part of the yellowhouseart community, where she teaches children and adults, assists with curating exhibitions and encourages others to discover their own creativity. Her work has been exhibited through galleries and major Australian art fairs and is held in private collections.
At the heart of Lindy’s practice is a desire to create happiness. Her paintings invite viewers to slow down, explore the details and enjoy the wonderful freedom of colour.
