Coolwater Spirals
Coolwater Spirals
The Coolwater Spirals earrings are a soothing blend of calm blues, handwoven texture, and deep cultural meaning. Created by Gomeroi weaving artist Debbie Wood, these earrings honour the role of water on Country — rivers that sustain, creeks that wind through bushland, and the peaceful rhythm of light rippling across still pools. Their rich denim-blue tone makes them beautifully wearable while also carrying the serene stillness of calm water.
Weaving in Gomeroi culture is a practice of connection — to ancestors, to memory, to Country, and to each other. Debbie brings this knowledge into every piece she creates, and the spiralled form of these earrings reflects the circular motion of storytelling and tradition. Each loop of raffia is placed by hand, creating a mesmerising spiral pattern that feels grounded, balanced, and full of movement.
Despite their size, these earrings are astonishingly lightweight. Raffia has a natural airiness that makes these pieces comfortable enough for long wear, even though they offer the impact of a statement earring. The subtle flecks of natural raffia peeking through the blue create gorgeous variation and depth — proof that nothing mass-produced could ever replicate handmade texture.
The Coolwater Spirals are effortlessly versatile. Pair them with crisp whites, earthy neutrals, or your favourite dresses. They bring a sense of calm confidence, making you feel centred and stylish in one go. Whether you’re browsing markets, heading out to dinner, or brightening your everyday wardrobe, these earrings add a soft boldness that works beautifully year-round.
As with all of Debbie’s pieces, each set is handmade and one-of-a-kind. The slight variations in colour, coil tightness, and shape add character and authenticity — you’re wearing something touched by the artist’s hands, not a machine.
Jewellery Care
Avoid moisture and store safely. If the raffia ever shifts, gently guide it back into place with your fingertips.
